Gerald Daniel Sanders

Mr. Gerald D. Sanders Augusta, Ga., Mr. Gerald D. Sanders, age 69, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015 after a battle with brain cancer. Mr. Sanders is survived by two daughters, Robyn Prescott-Schimpf (David) of Lexington, NC., and Leslie Berge (Eric) of Augusta. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Haylee , Zachary, Shyanne , Jayce , and Blake; three sisters and one brother. Jerry was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the 6994th Air Force Security Squadron, the most highly decorated squadron in the history of the current 25th Air Force and all of its predecessor organizations. This Squadron was responsible for locating and identifying the enemy using radio direction finding techniques and collecting intelligence information. Jerry seved proudly from 1965-1969. A celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
