Biography AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. William Dawood Magharious, 86, beloved husband of 34 years to Patricia Magharious entered into rest on March 23, 2013. On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, a prayer service will be held at St. Augustine Coptic Orthodox Church in Martinez, GA at 2:00 pm followed by a viewing at McNeil Funeral Home in Martinez, GA at 5:00 pm. On Thursday, March 28th, 2013, the funeral procession will occur at 11:00 am at the Westover Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, GA.Dr. Magharious was born and raised in Luxor, Egypt where he leaves behind three siblings, Evonne Magharious, Ojenie Magharious, and Kamal Magharious.While living in Cairo, Egypt, William met and married Ragaa Ayoub Nasif and raised three beautiful children with her before she passed away in 1979.Dr. Magharious received his medical degree from The University of Cairo, practiced medicine in Cairo, Egypt, and then moved to Boston, Massachusetts for his residency training.He worked as a psychiatrist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he met and married Patricia Magharious before transferring to the VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.He devoted 20 years to the VA Hospital in Augusta while raising two more children. William enjoyed gardening, cooking Egyptian food, playing soccer and card games and was a devoted member of the Coptic Orthodox faith. In addition to his wife and three siblings, survivors include his five children, Wiaam (Hani) Rophael, Walaa (Becky) Magharious, Wagdan Magharious, Gina Magharious, and Maria Magharious along with three grandchildren, Eirene Rophael, Josette Rophael, and Andrew Rophael.
