Appling, GA RETIRED MAJOR WILLIAM HAROLD FARMER Harold Farmer, of Appling, passed away Monday, August, 6, 2012, at the age of 73.He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann (Allen) Farmer, his parents, Elbidge and Ruby (Moore) Farmer and one brother, Jim Farmer.His is survived by 6 children, Terri Meredith of Evans, Mike (Lynn) Farmer of Appling, Toni (Dave) Hatfield of Thomson, Mark (Juanita) Farmer of Hephzibah, Tracy (Wayne) Padgett of Hephzibah and Mitch (Heather) Farmer of Appling; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.Harold was a 1975 graduate of Augusta College having earned a Bachelor of Business Administration.He retired from the U. S. Army as a Major where he received a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Campaigns, Vietnam Signal Corps Badge,Air Metal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Metal.Services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.Memorials may be made in Harold’s name to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA., 30906, 706.798.8886, entrusted with arrangements.
