Wayne M. Roberts

Mr. Wayne M. Roberts, age 69, of Oakwood, passed away January 15, 2012 following a brief illness at Southeast Georgia Health System. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The graveside services will be conducted on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.Rev. Roland Smith will officiate. Mr. Roberts was born December 8, 1942 to the late Herschel and Veona Roberts.Wayne was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God, where he was also the Maintenance Director following his retirement in 2002 from Savannah River Site.Mr. Roberts also participated in the Thursday Morning Prayer group and in the Hall County Jail Ministry. Survivors include his wife of 18 ½ years, Marie Locke Roberts; son, David Roberts, of Aiken, SC; daughter and son-in-law-, Julie and Peter Ebenhack , of Westminster, SC; step-daughters, Lisa Thompson, of Buckhead,and Cindy Shepherd , of Flowery Branch; brothers, Ronald Roberts, of Augusta, Gerald Roberts, of Augusta, and Billy Roberts, of Lawrenceville; sisters, JoAnn Dowds, of Augusta, Carolyn Mason, of Augusta, and Brenda Frommer, of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Brett Shepherd, Sarah Ebenhack, and Elias Ebenhack; and several nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted, as well as donations to The American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067; Cornerstone Assembly of God, 3622 Atlanta Highway, Flowery Branch, GA 30542; and Epworth By the Sea, 100 Arthur J.
