W. Byron Brown, Sr.74 of Waynesboro, GA passed away peacefully in sleep surrounded by his family on Thursday October 14, 2021. He was a Florida native and lived the past 48 years in Burke County. He attended Broward College and the University of Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving a tour in the Vietnam War with distinction. Mr. Brown was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro and was a former adult Sunday School teacher at the Vidette Methodist Church. He was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a retired farmer whose love of the land was evident to all who knew him. He enjoyed woodworking, but most of all he was a devoted family man and devout Christian. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy Louise Brown; two sons and their spouses, Byron (Lisa) Brown, Jr. of Waynesboro, and Cameron (Leslie) Brown of Martinez; grandchildren Bryson Brown, Tucker Brown and Kendall Ruby Brown; sisters Betty (Joe) Lord, Tampa Florida and Brenda Monroe, Tavernier, Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack Behn, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Carol Behn , Winchester , VA and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday October 23, 2021 11 AM until 1 PM at First Baptist Church, Welcome Center, 853 N. Liberty Street, Waynesboro, GA. Services and Interment will be private. If so, desired memorial contributions may be made to the Center for New Beginnings,2727 West 6th Street, Waynesboro, GA or the charity of choice.
