Victor Lavelle Brown

Victor Lavelle Brown, of Lincolnton, GA, born on February 29, 1948, in Bastrop, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the age of 76. Victor shared a remarkable life with his beloved wife, Diane (Humphries) Brown. The two met in Savannah, Georgia, and spent 59 wonderful years together. A devoted husband and father, Victor’s life was filled with family, passion, and hard work. An avid car enthusiast, Victor found great joy in rebuilding and racing cars—a hobby that reflected his love for precision and speed. His career took him to Des Moines, Iowa, where he worked for the Chicago North Western Railroad until his retirement. After retirement, he and Diane returned to Georgia to enjoy their golden years closer to family. Victor was preceded in death by his father James W. Brown; his mother Frances "Vickie" Brown; and his sister Brenda Snyder. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his wife Diane Brown of Lincolnton, GA; his brother James (Susan) Brown of Des Moines, IA; sisters Kelly (Al) Carter of Burleson, TX and Carla Holtzclaw of Pevley, MO; son Bruce Brown of Des Moines, Iowa; daughters Deborah (John) Saxon of Lincolnton, Georgia, and Laurie (Kenny) Durden of Washington, Georgia; as well as nine grandchildren—Joshua (Ashleigh) Phillips, Zachary (Carly) Boulineau, Jake Durden, Joryn Brown, Jaxon Brown, Johnny Saxon, Brian (Erin) Saxon, Brad (Erin) Durden, Kayleigh (Michael) Shuty, Shana Messex and Chasity Messex,—and nine great-grandchildren: Ayden, Austin, Cohen, Kynleigh, Olivia, Tripp, Brinn, Rubye Grace and Jase A memorial service will be held on January 18, 2025, at Harlem Baptist Church in Harlem, Georgia at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
