Thomas William Wright entered into rest at his home on Monday May 13, 2024. Tom was born September 10, 1947to Paul and Helen Wright in Elgin, Illinois, and grew up in Golconda, a small town in southern Illinois. With his father and uncles, he developed a love of the outdoors where he hunted, fished, and played all manner of sports. He graduated from Pope County High School in 1965, where he was the catcher for the baseball team. Immediately after graduation, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers farm team. He played single-A professional baseball for the Tigers in Valentine, Nebraska, for one summer. Tom continued his sports career playing baseball and basketball for Augusta College. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration, and worked for several local banking institutions and Georgia Pacific, before finding his career as a salesman at Club Car, Inc., in 1980. He retired from Club Car as Vice President of Sales for North America, in the early 2000s. He was an avid golfer and developed life-long friendships through his love of the game. Tom actively played until last year, and was a member of various golf clubs including West Lake, Jones Creek, and Bartram Trail. Tom was a member of Our Savior Episcopal Church and served as a vestry member, church Treasurer, and co-leader of the youth group with his wife for several years. Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Amy Zoeckler Wright, his daughter Brooke Ellen Wright, his son Jayson William Wright, his grandson Aedan William Wright, and his sister Paula Wright Faulkner. Tom is also survived by his brother-in-law, Lawrence Joiner, nephew Dean Joiner, and niece Sandy Joiner Ptashnik. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janet Wright Joiner. The Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 24, 2024, at Our Savior Episcopal Church, 4227 Columbia Road, Martinez, Georgia, 30907. The family will host visitors at 1 pm, and the service will follow at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, or the First Tee of Augusta.
