Thomas Bernard Harrison, Jr.

Thomas Bernard Harrison, Jr., age 69, entered into rest after an extended illness, at his home on June 20, 2020. He was the son of the late Thomas Bernard Harrison, Sr. and Flossie Rice Harrison. He was also predeceased by a sister, Joan Harrison Dillard. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Harrison Watson and Stanmore T. “Skip” Watson of North Augusta, S.C. , and many cousins, also his lifelong best friends Jeff Russell, Dr. Jack H. Austin and Mercer Hill.Thomas was a native Augustan, and a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County-Class of 1968, and Augusta College(Augusta State University)-Class of 1972. He was a Catholic, and a member of the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile, Al. Thomas was an extremely gifted and talented writer, editor and an award winning Journalist. He began his newspaper career in 1972 with the Augusta Chronicle; and retired as the Arts-Entertainment Editor for the Mobile Press Register in Mobile, Alabama. He was highly regarded among his colleagues in the Arts Community in Mobile for his tireless efforts in promoting their works and careers . His career took him to many places in the U.S., and his time spent in the beauty of Alaska proved to be one of his most favorite. He was extremely honored when he received an award from the Associated Press for his movie review of “The Deer Hunter. ” He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, intelligence, his mastery of the written word, love for the Arts & Artists, and especially his cat , “Gray-Gray.” He was a wonderful son, brother, cousin and friend to many. Thomas will be forever loved and missed. There will be no Visitation due to COVID-19. A private Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the CSRA Humane Society, Catholic Social Services or the charity of your choosing.
