Mr. William Steven “Steve” Van Deren Aiken, SC., Entered into rest March 4, 2014 at his residence Mr. William Steven “Steve” Van Deren Husband of Mrs. Karen Thelen Van Deren. Steve was born in Huntington, IN, spent most of his childhood in Indpls., IN and moved to Chicago area as a teenager. He and his wife moved to Aiken in 2009 and love the south, much of that due to being surrounded by people whose belief in God and country is strong. Steve and his wife attend St. Mary’s. Steve was an alter boy in Indpls., and a yo-yo champion in his youth. He received a Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State Univ. He served as a1st Lt. in the Army Air Defense Artillery. His dad passed on to him and his brother a love of Notre Dame Football. He was an employed by R.W. Baird as 1st VP/financial advisor. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf. He was an honest, loyal, family man with a fun-loving spirit which earned him many friends. The family thanks our many friends for their wonderful support and all of the compassionate medical personnel for their great care and friendship. A memorial mass will be at St. Mary’s Help of Christian Catholic Church on Saturday March 29th. At 10:00 a.m. He is survived by his wife Karen, children, William Robert “Rob” Van Deren and grandson William Maxwell “Max”. Susanna Schulze-Krzemien, son- in-law, Robert Krzemien and grandson, Bobby Schulze, Thomas L. Van Deren. Brother, Thomas J. Van Deren, Sister-In-Law, Joan Van Deren, Nephew, William I. Van Deren and wife Leah Van Deren. Nieces, Holly Magarino and husband Rich Magarino, Great nieces, Marissa, Sophia and Alysia, Kelly Van Deren and great niece Prema. Parents-in-law, Marion and Norm Thelen, brother-in-law, Todd Thelen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances L. and William “Bill” E. Van Deren.
