Shirley Elizabeth Deal

Shirley Elizabeth Deal, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2023 after an extended and valiant battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Augusta, Shirley was born March 15, 1935 to Mildred Elizabeth Trice and Grady Lee Trice. Shirley married the love of her life, Charles MacDonald “Mac” Deal in February 1957. Together, Mac and Shirley ran Charlie Deal’s Country Store for more than 40 years - a landmark in the Augusta community. An active volunteer in community and political causes, Shirley was well known for her sunny smile and cheerful disposition, Shirley will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her daughter Lesa Lee Lockhart, granddaughter Melinda Michelle Garcia, and great-grandchildren Bailey Jarrard and Jessica Duggan. A memorial service for Shirley will be held at Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta, GA, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 1:30 PM. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:00 PM at the church prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the “Item IV-A Trust FBO Lesa L. Lockhart c/o Shirley E. Deal Revocable Trust dated October 3, 2023”, 748 Alderney Cove, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30044.
