Sheila M. Capece

Shelia M. Capece, of Augusta and a native of Detroit, Michigan, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.She was 75 years old. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 4:00 until 5:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road.Ms. Capece was cremated and burial will be a private service at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Maria Capece and Douglas A. Munitz, of Augusta; her granddaughters, Adrienne Munitz and Arielle Munitz, both of Augusta.She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 46 years, Nicholas Capece, in February of 2000. Ms. Capece was a veteran of The United States Army.She served during the Korean Conflict. She was retired from Glenn Hills High School where she taught English. An Anglican, Ms. Capece was an avid reader, theater buff, and traveler.In 2005, she enjoyed a literary tour of Ireland.She was a founding member of the Astronomy Club of Augusta.Ms. Capece was a past member of the Red Hat Society.Ms. Capece attended Cass Tech and graduated from Augusta State University, where she also received her Masters and Specialist degrees.She loved her pets, including her cats, Misty and Emily, and her Italian Greyhound, Quark.
