Sam Hattaway

Sam Hattaway, 83, of Augusta, entered into rest on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Poteet Funeral Home with Pastor David Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Sam grew up on a farm in Washington County and later moved to Augusta to work in a textile mill. He later went to work at Thermal Ceramics where he retired as a Maintenance Mechanic. He was close to his brothers and loved his family. His greatest hobbies included fishing and camping. Survivors include his son, Mickey (Janice) Seigler of Midville; brothers, J. L. Hattaway of Clearwater, Bobby Hattaway of Hephzibah, and Charles (Joan) Hattaway of Hephzibah; grandchildren, Travis Seigler, Michael Creech, Brandon Yantis, Jennifer Moore, and Shannon Karchaske; 10 great grandchildren; and a dear friend, Carolyn Andrews. Pallbearers will be Justin Hattaway, Eddie Cumbee, Donnie Hattaway, Travis Seigler, Mike Jones, and Cohen Jones. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Bush Hattaway and daughter, Pam Smith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 26, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.
