Mrs. Ruth A. Allen Retired from Richmond County Sheriff’s Department Mrs. Ruth A. Allen passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010.She was 77 years old. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.The committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter, Donna Alberson, and her husband, Johnnie, of Augusta; her granddaughters, Ashley Baker and Amanda Alberson, both of Augusta; her great grandchildren, Ciera, Tanner, and Will; her sister, Helen O’Neil; and her brother, Ray Northup. Mrs. Allen was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, she was a deputy clerk for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 649, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 178, the Order of the Eastern Star Alice Warren Chapter #483, and the Red Hat Society. The family suggests that memorials be made to any charity. The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 798.8886, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
