Roy Rookie Franke

Martinez, GA, - Roy (Rookie) Franke, born on January 30, 1951, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Barrington, NJ, to John and Elizabeth Franke. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne, stepson Joseph (Evelyn) Griffin, and grandchildren Jonathan and Eliza. He is also survived by brothers Jim, John, Paul, and their families, and brother-in-law Jack Austin (Fran). He played on the 1970 Haddon Heights High School State Championship basketball team. He is a member of the Haddon Heights High School Hall of Fame and was inducted in the Albert Carino Basketball Club of South Jersey Hall of Fame. Roy attended and played basketball at Augusta College where he obtained his cherished nickname, “Rookie”. He retired from the state of Georgia and from the ISTSE, Local 629. He truly enjoyed his retirement at home while watching the Phillies, Eagles, Nascar and spending time with his family.
