Mr. Robert Eugene Steele, husband of Kathy Steele, of Faircrest Avenue in Augusta died on October 12, 2008 at MCG Hospital.He was 60 years old. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706.798.8886.The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.Pastor Brandon Lanier will officiate.Burial, with United States Marine Corp Honors, will follow the service at The Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. There will be no procession to Milledgeville; Friends and family will reassemble at the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, Kathy Steele, and their children: Robert Steele Jr. and Enoch Steele. He is also survived by two daughters, Katrina Steele, Nikki Steele, and a son Quinton Steele and their mother, Claudette “Joy” Henderson.Mr. Steele is also survived by his grandson Haniel; his sisters, Katrina Flemister and Carmen Jones; his brothers, Paul Jackson, Roger Steele, and Fred Steele. Mr. Steele was a decorated veteran of The United States Marine Corps.He served in the Vietnam War.He attended Calvary temple Assembly of God.He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved working in his garden.
