Robert Hugh Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Robert Hugh Johnson, Sr. Thomson, Ga., entered into rest October 4, 2016. Mr. Robert Hugh Johnson, Sr. Mr. Johnson a native of Monroe, MI and graduate of Augusta State University where he earned undergraduate and master’s degrees, he lived most of his adult life in Augusta area. He taught at Butler High School for over 20 years and was a principal at Hephzibah High School before retiring. An outstanding father, coach, teacher and mentor; he was an avid outdoorsman. Son of Beatrice Johnson and the late Hugh C. Johnson. He is survived by his son, Robert Hugh Johnson, Jr; stepchildren, Justin Chandler, Jonathan Chandler, Anne Marie Keith, Melanie Viebrock, and Katie Morris; brothers, Dave Johnson (Annette), Don and Rick Johnson, sisters, Mary (Jim) Howe and Lynn (Mark) Grummon, and fiancé Glennys Gonzalez as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held Friday (October 7, 2016)) from 3:00-5:00 pm at Platt’s Funeral Home 337 N. Belair Road Evans, Ga. 30809
