Robert E. Hurst

Hephzibah, GA. Robert E. Hurst, age 81, of Hephzibah, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015, at his residence with his family surrounding him. He was born June 7, 1934 in Rockwood, TN., to the late Roy and Nettie Tankersley Hurst.He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina, a sister, Maxine Evans and a niece, Janet Evans.Mr. Hurst retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of decorated service.He worked at Babcock’s Furniture Store for many years. He is survived by his children; Jeanette Hermanson and Donald Hurst; 2 grandchildren, Lorraine Hermanson and Windy Gremmer; 2 great grandsons, Brytan Pendergrass and Adrian Febus; 2 nephews, Johnny Evans and Jimmy Evans; 1 great grand niece, Sarah Evans. Family will receive friends Tuesday 6 pm to 8 pm at THE POTEET FUNERAL HOME, 3465 Peach Orchard Rd., Augusta, 30906. Services will be Wednesday 11 am at the funeral home with Claude Newby, Retired Army Chaplain, officiating.Burial to follow in Hephzibah Vance Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
