Robert E. “Bob” Hughes Mr. Robert E. “Bob” Hughes, of Willis Foreman Road in Hephzibah, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at University Hospital.He was 73 years old. The family received friends on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (Today), October 4, 2009 at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel.Committal services will follow in the family plot at West View Cemetery.Rev. David Hagen, Minister Clarissa Middleton, and Rev. Valeria Hughes will officiate. Bob is survived by his daughter, Rev. Valeria Hughes of Hephzibah; his sons, Mickey Hughes and Brian T. Hughes, both of Augusta; his grandchildren, Misty Hughes, Mickey Hughes Jr., Ariel Hughes, Macey Hughes, McKinzie Hughes, Mickey Hughes, Taylor Fortner, and William Lamie; his brothers, Quitman Hughes, Raymond Hughes, Joe Hughes, James West, and David West; his great-grandchildren, Haylei Hughes, and Hunter Hughes. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janie “Boots” Hughes, in 2005.He was also preceded in death by his parents, Quitman and Anniebell Taylor Hughes. Bob was a lifelong painter and retired as an ironworker from Local 709.He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.Bob loved the Lord and loved to sing gospel music. Pallbearers are Glenn Kennedy, James Kennedy II, John Hamett, Matthew Hamett, Timothy Reese, and William Lamie.
