Reverend Donald James Soule, 68, passed into the arms of the Savior he loved on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He was born on November 17, 1955, in Fremont, Ohio, to James William and Irene Rufty Soule. After graduating from Fremont Ross High School in 1974, he felt God’s calling to be in full-time ministry so he attended Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland, where he earned a B.A. in theology in 1978. After graduation, he married the love of his life, Cynthia June Robey, and they moved to Anderson, South Carolina, where he served as pastor at Grace Fellowship Church for fourteen years. In 1992, he and his family moved to Aiken, South Carolina, where he was the youth and associate pastor at Grace Church of Aiken for 32 years until his death. Growing up in Ohio, he had a love for farming and tractors. In high school, he was involved in 4-H and helped local farmers on their farms. After moving to Anderson, SC, he worked for Senator T. Ed Garrison at Denver Downs farm. In Aiken, he was an active participant in the Aiken Antique Power Association. He loved driving his antique Ford tractor in local parades. He also loved hunting and NASCAR. Through the years, he coached many youth baseball and basketball teams in Aiken and led numerous mission trips both at home and abroad. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Cindy; four children: Carrie (Mark) Davis, Matthew (Sarah) Soule, Peter (Nathalie) Soule, and Adam Soule; and nine grandchildren who he dearly loved. He also leaves behind five siblings: Kathleen (Daren) Couch, Steve (Nancy) Soule, Tom (Brenda) Soule, Linda (Mike) Solander, and Lori (Mike) West. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Jane Soule. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Grace Church of Aiken (144 Talatha Church Road, Aiken, SC). A receiving of friends will be held at 2:00pm and the service will follow at 3:00pm.
