Mr. Ralph Smith “Cap’n Smitty” Mr. Ralph Smith of Augusta died on Thursday, July 8, 2010.He was 68 years old. The memorial service will be conducted on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Open Arms Community Church with Pastor Larry Beam officiating.Mr. Smith was cremated and burial will be a private service at a later date. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Smith Klein and her husband, Breck, of Aiken; his son, Aaron Smith and his wife, Teresa, of Grovetown; his sisters, Lola Smith Jones and her husband, David, of Augusta, Brenda Smith Harris and her husband, Earl, of Slate Springs, Mississippi, and Bobbie Smith Pague of Augusta; his best friend, Ray Hiott, of Beech Island; several loving nieces, nephews, and other close friends.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Smith; his parents, Calvin George and Josephine Barton Smith; his brother, Jerry F. Moncree. Mr. Smith was a member of Open Arms Community Church.He served in The United States Air Force.Mr. Smith retired from Acura of Augusta.Because he never met a stranger, Mr. Smith made friends easily.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Open Arms Community Church, 4694 Windsor Spring Road, Hephzibah 30815.
