Phyllis Raye Pressley

Mrs. Phyllis Raye (Peace) Pressley, of Hephzibah, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at University Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Corbin, KY, she was the daughter of the late Silas Raye Peace and Evelyn Brock Peace. She lived in the Augusta metro area most of her life and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Phyllis worked at Borden Ice Cream and retired from Murray Biscuit Co in 2003 after twenty five years of service. She was an amazing loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Donald “Donnie” Pressley; grandsons, Clayton Edward Pressley, and James Edward Higdon. She is survived by her husband of fifty six years, Joseph “Joe” Pressley; daughter, Jo-Ann “Jody” and her husband Michael, NorthAugusta, SC;son, Mike Pressley, Hephzibah, GA; sisters Mary Anne Glenn, Judy Kitchens, Ernestine Taylor, Linda Marshall; brothers, Silas Peace, Scott Peace; grandchildren, Amanda Pressley Rowell, Steven Michael Higdon, Amber Pressley; great grandchildren, Christian Rowell, Savannah Snelling, Kailey Ellis, Autumn Michelle Rowell, and Aleigha Pressley Rowell. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 4-6pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Rd, Augusta, GA. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1pm in the Chapel of Poteet Funeral Home with Pastor John George officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family members and honorary pallbearer will be her son, Mike Pressley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Suite 301, Cayce, SC 29033.
