She is survived by her daughter, DeAnna (Leigh) Miller Pearson married to Donald Pearson of Graniteville, South Carolina, her son, Charles Douglas Tarver Miller married to April Miller of Unadilla, Georgia, and Christina (Renee) Miller of Aiken, South Carolina, her sisters, Gloris of Atlanta, Georgia, Fay Ratcliff of North Augusta, South Carolina, Rhonda Jones of Augusta, Georgia, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richmond County Councilman James (Jim) Tarver Sr. and Alvina (Murray) Tarver, her husband of 38 years, Charles William Miller, her infant son, Robert Miller, and her brother, James Paul Tarver, Jr. A special thanks to Paula’s special friends, Kay and Vic, who provided valuable assistance to her—especially once she was unable to drive. Paula was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA, and a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. She had a charming and outgoing personality which revealed itself cleverly through her wit and no-nonsense style of communication. She was devoted to Charles, who pursued her so relentlessly that he secured employment at her workplace in order to secure a date with her. They were married on October 2, 1975. God blessed the new couple with four children. DeAnna is Paula’s oldest and took care of Paula at her home during her final days on earth. Robert is Paula’s first-born son, with whom she only had a few days before he passed. Charlie is Paula’s son who enjoyed joking and debating with her. Christina (Tina) is Paula’s daughter and looks the most like her. Paula was passionately devoted to her family, through many ups and downs. Paula was primarily a homemaker who would also seek outside employment when times were tough. She trusted Christ as her Lord and Savior as an adult and was a member of Jones Creek Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia. She enjoyed coffee, long conversations, crocheting, ceramics, and vegetable gardening. She was careful to always put others first—and to remind you of it if she needed to! Paula had wide shoulders and a strong disposition which allowed her to carry many burdens and sorrows through this life. She has earned her peace and may the Lord give her rest. A private memorial for Paula will be held for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Paula’s name to the charity of your choice.
