It is with great sadness that the Cagle Family of Harlem, GA announces the passing of George Nichols “ Nick” Cagle, 78, on January 21, 2024. Nick was born February 8, 1945 in Swartz, Louisiana to Violet May and Edgar Cagle. Nick was an 8-year veteran of the US Navy, becoming the youngest Petty Officer, 2nd Class (PO 2) at the age of 19. He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, including a tour of duty in Atsugi, Japan and Danang, Vietnam. He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University, earning his BS in Accounting. He rose through the ranks of the apparel industry as a Chief Financial Officer. He was a talented and passionate hobbyist, including a decade as a scuba diving instructor and a very skilled woodworker. He spent the last 20 years traveling across North America in his motorhome with his wife Donna, and their Labrador Retrievers, Hank and Max. He was an active Freemason and Shriner. He is preceded in death by his eldest son, Darryl Cagle and his younger brother, Donnie Cagle. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Cagle, his younger sister and brother-in-law, Shelia & Sam Hammontree, his youngest son and wife, Tim & Michelle Cagle, his grandchildren Mallory Cagle, Peyton Cagle, Violet Cagle, Gabe Labarca, and great-grandson Hudson Cagle. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2pm on January 28, 2024 at Harlem Masonic Lodge No. 276 in Harlem, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital’s for Children.
