Nancy Virginia Cooke, 89, of Martinez passed away on March 7th at Regency Hospice after a lengthy illness. Nancy was born in Perryton, Texas on June 24, 1934. She was the daughter of James Edward and Mildred West. During her childhood, she moved with her family to many places in Texas, including Childress and Austin. She graduated from Austin High School and the University of Texas. She then moved to New Orleans, before settling in the Augusta area. She was a teacher at Meadowbrook Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed traveling. After she retired, Nancy volunteered at Imagination Station. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Wesley Francis Cooke and Stefan Miles Cooke, and one sister: Judith Stockton. She is survived by two sisters: Pricilla Singer and Susan Gaddis, two nieces, four nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.
