Michael Alan Pappas

January 8, 1961 — July 3, 2014

Augusta, Ga. Mr. Michael (Mike) Pappas, 53, husband of Michelle Pappas, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, July 3, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at New Life Church, 250 Bobby Jones Expy in Martinez at 1 p.m. with visitation after the service. Mike was born in Detroit, Michigan and remained a die-hard University of Michigan Wolverine fan and also loved the Detroit Redwings. In 1982 he moved to N. Augusta where he met the love of his life of 32 years, Michele. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ashley, his precious grandson, Sani, who adores his Poppy, his mother, Maxine Pappas, two sisters, Paulette Okurowski and Christine Lee, two brothers, Vernon Pappas and David Pappas, Father-in-law, Wade Nobles and wife, Patricia, brother-in-law, Steve Nobles and sister-in-law, Nita Nobles, nieces and nephews, Stephen, David and Jason Okurowski, Melissa Lynch, Christian and Kamryn Nobles. He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Rodgers & his father, Paul Pappas. Mike lived his life, since coming to know the Lord at the age of 10, loving and serving others. He was truly a blessing and was blessed many times over by serving at Warren Baptist Church as Associate Director of the Family Life Center and Director of their Men's Ministry. All of the many families who participated in Upward sports enriched his life greatly. He loved his time also with Omega House through the Broken Shackle Ranch until he had to retire due to health issues. Mike led several mission trips abroad including trips to Tanzania and Lebanon. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
