Melanie Bodie Pitts Evans, Ga., entered into rest December 8, 2016. Melanie Claire Bodie Pitts, 62, daughter of William G. Bodie and Cora Gunter Bodie. Melanie was born in Savannah, Ga. After living for a short time during her childhood in North Africa, she returned with her family to Savannah and then to Huntsville, Al. where she attended kindergarten and graduated from Huntsville High in 1972. She married and moved to Atlanta where she studied nursing at Clayton State University and Georgia State University. After living a few years in Lexington, SC she moved with her family to Evans where she has resided for the past 30 years. She was a member of Evans First Baptist Church and active in the choir. Melanie was an RN at Augusta University Medical Center. She was a published author of Poetry, she loved crocheting and knitting, and reading. She was known for her smile, kindness and generosity. Family will receive friends at 2pm before the funeral service at 2:30pm on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Evans First Baptist Church with Reverend Phillip Hedgecoth officiating. A private burial service will follow. In addition to her parents, survivors include her son, Justin Harris Pitts; daughter, Melanie Danielle Kitchens; sisters, Lynne Bryant and Jamie Hertzog; and grandson, William Arthur Pitts.
