Mary “Evelyn” Wooten Walters, 72, loving wife of fifty-seven years to Roy S. Walters entered into rest on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by family and friends Born May 16, 1949 in Macon, Georgia, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Alma Wooten Crook, Clyde Crook, and Paul Holtzclaw. Evelyn lived in Martinez for more than fifty years. She was a fun-loving and devoted wife, mother, Mimi and friend to many. She enjoyed being outside by the pool, at the lake, or at the beach, reading, cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, and entertaining and caring for family and friends. A care-giver by nature, Evelyn graduated from Augusta College and worked as a registered nurse at Doctors Hospital and the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Roy Walters; daughter, Lisa (Sean) Norman; sons, Eric Walters, Sr. and Eric Walters, Jr.; two grandchildren, Cullen Norman and Caden Norman; brother, Mike Holtzclaw, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Holtzclaw Silas. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Phillip Winsett officiating. Interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Cemetery. McNeill Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Martinez Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
