Mary Evans Mims

Augusta, GA. Mary Evans Mims, age 82, of Augusta, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, at Kentwood Nursing Facility. She was born April 22, 1932 in Columbia, S. C. to the late Patrick Henry and Mae Robinson Evans.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Mims, Sr.Mary was a member of the Lumpkin Road Baptist Church, where she was in the Ambassador’s Sunday School Class. She is survived by her son, Bobby Mims; 2 grandchildren, Tripp (Regina) Mims and Nick (Jennifer) Mims; great grandchildren, Charlotte, Rachel, Lilly and Luke; a special niece, Mary Clarkson.She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Ella Bolt, Ruby Heddy, Frank Evans, Pat Evans, Carl Evans, Willie Evans, Bennie Mac Evans and by a great grandson, Elijah Mims. Family will receive friends Tuesday (TODAY) 5 pm to 7 pm at THE POTEET FUNERAL HOME, 3465 Peach Orchard Rd., HWY 25, Augusta, 30906.706.798.8886. Services will be Wednesday 11 am at the Poteet Chapel with Pastor Don Stone, officiating.Burial to follow in Hephzibah-Vance Cemetery.
