Mary Gilder

Mary Gilder, 93, died December 12, 2021 at Select Care. She was born November 8, 1928, in Augusta, GA, the daughter of Brice Gilder and Estelle (Grant) Gilder.

Mary graduated from Morgan State University, Class of 1954, and was a Physical Education instructor at Paine College, in the early 1960s. She continued as an educator, at Philadelphia OIC in Philadelphia, PA, and returned to Augusta, GA, to teach for the Richmond County Board of Education.Mary served as the oldest member of Morgan State University local Alumni chapter, until health prevented. A member of The Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church

She was predeceased by brothers Julian, Emanuel, and sister Audrey (Brathwaite) Gilder.Surviving is her niece, Gilda Brathwaite, grandnephew, Jerry Kendrick, and cousins. Close friend, Olivia “Pat” McCoy, devoted helpers, Sherlli Green, Miriam Stallings, and devoted handyman, Doug Burley.
