AUGUSTA, GA - Mrs. Mary Anna Freeman Bordon, wife of Reverend Paul E. Bordon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2012. Mary was born in Krugersdorp , South Africa , May 19, 1936.She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Dallas D. Freeman, who served as pioneer missionaries in South Africa from 1924 to 1964. Mary grew up and was educated in South Africa . She left South Africa in 1953 to attend Holmes Bible College in Greenville , South Carolina .She graduated from Holmes in 1959.She taught at the college for one year.She met her husband of 52 years from Bayamo , Cuba , at Holmes and married him in 1961. Together they pastored churches at Lakeside Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greenwood , S.C. (5 yes), Grendel PH, Greenwood , S.C. (10 yrs), and South Augusta PH, Augusta , Ga. (14 yrs).She was devoted to her calling to minister as a pastor's wife. She talked about her faith in Christ on a daily basis.She spent many hours of each day in prayer right up to the end when she joined her sister, Florine Duncan, brother, John Freeman, her mom and dad, and her savior Jesus Christ. Mary always put her savior, Jesus Christ, first in her life.She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband and dear mother to her children.She loved attending activities of her three grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she guided them by her Christian example.She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at church functions. Mary is survived by her husband, Reverend Paul E. Bordon of Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Paul B. (Brenda) Bordon of Martinez, Ga. and Dallas Bordon of Colbert, Ga.; three grandchildren, Paul Jonathan Bordon and Britt Emily Bordon of Martinez, Ga., and Hannah Madison Bordon of Colbert, Ga.; two nieces, Mrs. Martha Ann Carey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Cheryl Turner, missionary in South Africa; and one nephew, Rev. Lathan Duncan of Greenbay, Wisconsin. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road , Augusta , Ga. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 27 at 11:00 in the Poteet Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Massey, Rev. David Stockton, and Rev. Albert Stroup officiating.Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park .Pallbearers include Paul J. Bordon of Martinez , Collin O'Quinn, Keith Bailey, Gerald Wall, James Dye, and Donny Hobbs of Augusta .
