Marianne Kirkland

Augusta, GA – Marianne Kirkland, a long-time resident of Augusta, entered into rest on Friday, September 9, 2016 at University Hospital. Born in France on Christmas day in 1926. Marianne was married to Ernest Kirkland who she met in France during World War II. They were married for 51 years until his death.She was as a dental hygienist which became her career until her retirement. Marianne loved to cook, knit, and socialize with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed gardening and is very proud of her recipes using her home grown vegetables and herbs. She is a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and the title she is fondest of – great grandmother. She is survived by her grandson, Frank, great grandson, Joseph, her daughter, Linda, and two other grandsons, David and Jason. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA.A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
