Lyric Jane Crittenden

October 4, 2005 — October 24, 2020

It is with deepest sadness that I announce the unexpected passing of my beloved son, Lyric J. Crittenden, age 15. He passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Lyric was a passionate animal lover of all types, but he had a special affinity for insects, reptiles, and amphibians. Growing up he had a deep fascination with dragons that never left him. He never had the heart to kill any insect, no matter the type. He was even mesmerized by the palmetto bugs when he moved to Georgia, and he loved to just watch them outside at night. He always had a toad or a lizard or a turtle that he would lovingly name unique and funny names, such as the giant toad named Hubris. But for all that affection, his strongest connection and love was his “sister”, Honey Bunny, the golden retriever. The single most extraordinary thing about Lyric was his incomparable gift for creating art. With both parents being artists, it was not unexpected that he would show some talent, but he surpassed all expectation. He created layered worlds within his art that caused all who viewed it to be mesmerized. Lyric was able to open up and truly express himself through his art. He loved to share what he created and truly loved to help and encourage budding artists. Lyric leaves behind his adoring father, Ian Anthony Crittenden, and his siblings, Coral Crittenden, Natalie Snell, Vicke McKee, Clarissa McKee and Carson Johnson. He is predeceased by his mother, Robin Renee Talbert. Also surviving are his uncle John Talbert, his aunt Peggy Talbert, his aunt and uncle Dawn and Ryan Bryan, his aunt and uncle Laura Brown and Robert Klinge, and countless more loving family and friends. A celebration of life will take place at the Touch & Smell Garden at Pendleton King Park in Augusta Georgia on Sunday, November 1, 2020, 10:00 a.m. All are invited.
