Lura Wilson

Lura Ann Wilson, 68, of Evans, Georgia, went to be with the Lord March 9, 2024, at her home in Evans, Georgia. She fought bravely against multiple health challenges, but never lost her faith, joy, or love for others. She was a wonderful “Momma,” Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and friend who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity. Lura was born on October 8, 1955, in Idabel, Oklahoma, and graduated from Idabel Gray High School where she recently celebrated her 50th class reunion. She spent her adult years in Martinez/Evans, Georgia, where she worked for University Hospital. Lura was a devoted Christian woman who attended New Life Church in Grovetown, Georgia. She cherished her family and friends, especially her two granddaughters, Lily and Katie. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she loved them more than life itself. She loved any time she could spend with her family the most. Lura loved to cook, celebrate the holidays, was an avid Snoopy lover, and enjoyed travelling to visit her brothers in Texas and Oklahoma. Lura is preceded in death by her father, Ava Ray Wilson, mother, Virginia Irene Wilson, and brothers, James (Jimmy) Ray Wilson and David Milton Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Anne Cochran (Anthony), grandchildren, Katherine (Katie) Ann Harp and Lily Cochran, and her brothers, Larry (Tommy) Thomas Wilson (Syble), Donald Joe Wilson (Nita), and William (Bill) Lewis Wilson (Diane). The family will be holding a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906. Melynda Fuller Poss will officiate. If desired, flowers may be sent to Hillcrest Memorial Park.
