Lucy Piper Jackson 10/27/1964 - 9/7/2022 Lucy Piper Jackson of Augusta, GA, passed away peacefully after a brief acute illness on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the age of 57. Daughter of the late Donald and Louise Piper, Lucy demonstrated infallible faith, strength, grace, and courage in her victory against cancer during the 23 months preceding her passing. She was surrounded by loving family, and went to rest without pain in the arms of the apple of her blue eyes, her brown-eyed daughter, Anna Groob.Anna was and will forever be Lucy’s absolute joy. Lucy refused to leave her baby until she was able to give her the final moments she needed. Lucy’s sister, Shannon, was and will forever be her strength. With Shannon by her side, Lucy was able to rally repeatedly against all odds until Anna could arrive, at which point she proceeded to rally again and again. The ultimate inspiration, Lucy continued to fight and never gave up. To know Lucy was to love Lucy. Over the course of her battle against cancer, she took on many supportive visitors who cherished their time spent together and returned regularly. No matter who showed up, every moment to Lucy was about what she could do for anyone else. Lucy was a selfless, dedicated caregiver. She likely spent a number of years privately hiding her unknowing fight against cancer prior to diagnosis, while excelling at her position as a private caregiver for many elderly folks in the area, including her beloved Rita. Early on in life, Lucy was a fashion and cosmetics model signed to Fleetwood Modeling Agency. Constantly sought after, she remained incredibly modest and parlayed her modeling success into an equally successful retail career. She was especially proud of her ascent to store manager at Casual Corner, amassing a wardrobe complete with dozens of snazzy suits along the way. With Lucy modeling and selling the merchandise, it’s no wonder her store was continuously the top producer in the region.Lucy would often regale family and friends with tales of her youth, from riding horses growing up on the family farm to eating street food while daddy’s military assignment had the family stationed in Thailand. In stark contrast to the rest of her family, she was not traumatized by turbulent early 70’s airplane travel and adored exploring various new locales. She was forever inspired by a trip to London and Paris in her 20s, and most recently by her trip to Boston to visit Anna and Daniel. With them having now relocated to Texas, Lucy was planning to take her inseparable dog, Bear, and move in with them. Anna and Daniel will provide a loving home for her cherished Bear nonetheless. In addition to flying, Lucy also enjoyed road trips. She would often hop in the car with her lifelong friend Linda, who she loved spending time with, and head on up to the Cherokee resort in North Carolina to play the slots. She especially enjoyed the 7’s machine, and just a few months ago returned to Cherokee with Anna and Daniel. Impossible to sway once she had her mind set on something, Lucy insisted on being behind the wheel for the four-hour ride. Despite Daniel’s aversion and borderline disgust with slot machines, Lucy had him firing away excitedly as only she could.Ever the enigma when it comes to her personal preferences, Lucy was cinephile with an affinity for both gripping war movies and the comedic stylings of Tyler Perry. Though she outright refused to ever ingest sugar, she recently ate Anna’s last brownie in the box. When informed by her doctor that she could consume a modest level of caffeine, she went through a 75 K-cup box last week which she obtained on sale at Costco. In true Lucy fashion, she took the coffee with an overtly excessive level of Coffee Mate by anyone else’s standards. Lucy is survived by her aforementioned daughter Anna (and Anna’s husband Daniel), siblings Shannon (Jennifer), Sid (Michelle), Dewayne (Mimi), and Joan, nieces and nephews Matt (Whitney), Kris (Amber), Bobby (Mia), Ryan, Caitlyn (Keith), and Haley (Tony), and many adoring grand nieces and nephews including her beloved Alea, Miller, Mason, Marshall, and Caselyn. Family will welcome friends for a celebration of life on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 6 pm in the home of Shannon and Jennifer Broxton: 1921 Green Forest Drive, North Augusta, SC 29841.
