Lucy Ann (Barnes) Fanning, age 76, of Hephzibah, GA, entered into rest on March 6, 2025, at Piedmont Augusta. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Howard Fanning, her sister, Rebecca Barnes McBeath, and two brothers, Garwood (Marilyn) Barnes and Robert Barnes. She is survived by her two brothers, Russell (Trina) Barnes and Richard (Marie) Barnes; and her many close nieces and nephews. Lucy was born August 21st, 1948, in Augusta, GA. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Irene (Irick) Barnes. Lucy graduated from Butler High School, class of 1969, and she was later married on October 12, 1974. Lucy worked over 30 years in the meat department at Kroger, where she took pride in providing quality service to customers. In the years to follow, Lucy spent her retirement making fond, lasting memories with her family, and trying her luck with the Mega Millions and Powerball drawings. Although she never struck it big with her love of the lottery, Lucy continuously won the hearts of any and all who knew her, with her kind and self-less soul. She was 'Aunt Lucy' to everyone who knew her. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Monday, March 10th, from 6-8 at FairHaven Funeral Home. Her graveside service will take place on Tuesday, March 11th, at 11am at Bellvue Memorial Gardens.
