Lorraine McGraw, born on November 14, 1949, in North Augusta, SC, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024. A beloved mother, grandmother, and wife, Lorraine was the epitome of kindness and strength, and her spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. Lorraine began her career as a cosmetologist before transitioning to a role as a Correctional Officer, a profession she embraced with pride and resilience. She was not only a dedicated officer but also a remarkable shot, famously taking down her first deer with one shot. Her commitment to her work was evident when, at the age of 67, she returned to boot camp for a second time to further her career in Corrections. Family was at the heart of Lorraine’s life. She cherished every moment spent with her daughter, Angela McGraw, and her granddaughter, Shauna, with whom she particularly loved to share time rummaging through thrift stores and yard sales. Lorraine was also a devoted dog lover, enjoying playful moments with her beloved fur babies at home—her favorite place in the world. A lover of music, Lorraine had a special fondness for Lainey Wilson and enjoyed watching Yellowstone on tv with her husband. Her creativity shone through in her drawings and her impressive collection of Coca Cola memorabilia. Known affectionately by family and friends as Moo, Woof, or Officer Hammy, Lorraine was a true country girl at heart, embodying a spirit of adventure that was showcased in her memorable antics, such as shooting at an armadillo late at night to protect her yard. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, William McGraw, and her cherished family & friends. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will continue to inspire those who knew her, making her forever missed but never forgotten.
