Encircled by her children, Linda Lindsey Sanders passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2024. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 53 years, Jonah “Rex” Sanders. She is survived by her daughter Kathi Dickson (Bud) and son Scott “Houston” Sanders (Angie), grandchildren Rowan Dickson & Isabella Blue Sanders Raines, and bonus grandchild Lakhota Stroish. She met the love of her life in journalism school at the University of Alabama, became a loving, devoted wife & homemaker, soccer mom, Girl Scout leader, substitute teacher, family adventure seeker. She raised her children and was then Caregiver for her father & parents- in-law. In later years, she was an award-winning investigative reporter at the Bainbridge Post-Searchlight & the Eatonton Messenger, where she most enjoyed writing human interest pieces. She was an avid reader of historical fiction and romance books who loved eating out and attending weekly events at church and the Thomson-McDuffie Senior Center. A memorial will be held on Friday, February 23 at 3:00PM in the sanctuary at Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1441 Jackson Rd, Augusta, GA 30909. A short reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
