Leslie F. Ambrose

On October 11, 2017, Leslie Floyd Ambrose moved on to Glory. Les was born on the Island of Maui Hawaii, on August 11th 1942 to his proud parents, the late Manuel and Evelyn Ambrose. Les was the eldest of 5 children; 2 brothers, the late Arnold Ambrose & Patrick Ambrose; two sisters Linda (John) Reis and Rosie (Byron) Apo He is survived by his Loving wife of 53 years, Ruth W Ambrose, Daughter Susan (Carl) Bailey sons Leslie F Ambrose Jr, Kenneth R. (Karen) Ambrose. Grandchildren Chris Bailey, Stephen (Helen) Bailey, Jesse Ambrose, Manuel Ambrose, Dyson Higgins and Carter Higgins and Great Grandson Riley Ambrose. We could not be prouder of the man we call Husband, Father, Brother, and Opa. The testament of his character showed us all the true meaning of strength and love through his hard fought battle with cancer. Les had two careers in his life. His first started at age 18 when he enlisted in the army. He stayed with the signal corps with two campaigns in Vietnam as well as other deployments, until he retired after 23 years from Fort Gordon GA as SFC. In his second career he worked for Harris Corporation in Melbourne Fl. where Les and Ruth lived for 20 yrs. Respectfully known as “The Boss” Les extensively traveled the world with Ruth and his teams, installing, maintaining and upgrading intricate satellite systems, including systems he worked on when he was in the service. After his final retirement Les and Ruth moved back to Evans GA to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Although retirement is not the best description of his life in Evans, you would often find Les helping his children with many projects from building garages to maintaining a diverse orchid and plant collection. He was always on the go with his wife Ruth by his side to help motivate and support whatever challenge came next. Taking family trips was also a source of enjoyment for Les. It seems that his knack for logistics in getting 14 people or more across the country or around the world with detailed itinerary’s and fun stops along the way, gave him much joy. Our time with him was too short! But he made the most of that time. We as a family will be forever grateful for the wisdom the guidance and patience he showed us. We will celebrate the amazing, funny, silly and crazy times we all shared. We will smile and rejoice that he has gone home to be with our Lord Jesus and God the Father, where we will meet again. Services will be held at: “Christian Heritage Church” 285 Ascauga Lake Rd Graniteville, SC 29829 Friends will be greeted by the Family October 13, 2017 at Ken3:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 pm.
