L. A. Curd Jr.

Mr. L.A. Curd Jr. Retired Barber Mr. L.A. Curd Jr., of Augusta, died on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the VA Medical Center.He was 85 years old. The family will receive friends tomorrow, Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Evans Church of Christ, 515 Gibbs Road, Evans.The memorial service will follow the visitation on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the church. To honor Mr. Curd’s wishes his body was cremated. Mr. Curd is survived by his children, Steve Curd, Gail Swindall, Rick Curd, Tony Curd, and Kristi Capper; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Curd, in 2005. Mr. Curd was a member of the Evans Church of Christ.He was a barber for more than fifty years and the operator of Midway Barber Shop. Born in Mountain City, Tennessee, he was one of eleven children of the late Luther Alvin and Mary O. Curd Sr.He served in the United States Army.
