Kenneth Allan Sharp

February 26, 1954 — December 15, 2017

Kenneth Allan Sharp DiedDecember 15, 2017 after a short illness, surrounded by his friends. Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1954 to a military family, Ken spent his younger years traveling the country and world until his father's last assignment in Augusta, Georgia where the family settled. He graduated from Augusta College with a bachelor in Science in Mathematics and while working for the City of Augusta found his passion was traffic engineering. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Georgia Tech's school of civil engineering where he earned a bachelor's degree in Transportation System Engineering and passed his E.I.T. and P.E. exams on back to back weekends. For the next 35 years, he traveled all over the U.S. and several other countries to practice traffic engineering earning his master's degree along the way, but always coming back to Augusta. He recently retired across the river in South Carolina to fulfill his dream of self-sufficiency, buying a small home farm, raising his own food, raising bees and installing solar power. An off-beat man, Ken will be remembered as a loyal friend, generous with his time and his hands always sporting his hat of choice. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Dallas Sharp and his brother, Vance Sharp. He is survived by his nephews, Joshua Sharp of Oregon and Van Sharp of Tennessee. A celebration of life wake for Ken will be held at a later date.
