Julius Andrew Smith Retired SFC - U. S. Army Mr. Julius Smith, an Augusta resident, died on Friday, Saturday, April 20, 2012. He was 75 years old. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm immediately following the visitation at The Poteet Funeral Home Chapel. He will receivefull military honors.A private committal will be held at a later date. Along with his wife Phayao Smith, Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Sue Smith, Albert Smith and his wife Patricia, Andrew Smith, Rick Henderson, Demetrius Wright, and Pam Edwards; seven siblings, Kathleen Johnson, Betty Crump, Nancy Crump, Clarence Smith, Donald Smith, Kenneth Smith, an Albert Lawson; and 15 grandchildren and extended family and friends. Mr. Smith served in the U. S. Marine Corps for three years.He retired from the U. S. Army after over 28 years of service.
