Joyce R. Blackston

Mrs. Joyce R. Blackston, 75, of Hephzibah, GA passed away on April 22, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Kerr James and Gladys I. James. She was retired from Kendall Corporation.Joyce was a member of Faith Baptist and the Prayer Group. She enjoyed sewing, farming, and traveling. Her most precious time was spent with her family, especially the grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard James, Tommy James, and Robert James. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty nine years, William A. Blackston; children, Royce (Susan) Blackston, Martinez, GA, Gladys Reeves Pruin, Keysville, GA, Sherry Blackston, Hephzibah, GA, James (Melody) Blackston, Martinez, GA, Randy Blackston, Hephzibah, GA; brother, Fred James; sisters, Myrtle Bartlett, Dot (J.E.) Thomas, Wanda James Shelly, Marion Purkey; fourteen grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2015from 6-8 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015at 11am in the Chapel of the Poteet Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Prickett Family Cemetery.
