Joseph George Shaffer

Joseph George Shaffer Sr., 81, entered into rest February 12, 2023, in Augusta, Ga, daughter of the late Louis Shaffer and Mae Shaffer Buck. Mr. Shaffer was born in Corning, New York in 1941 and joined the U.S. Army as a culinary specialist, stationed at bases across the country and around the world until he retired as a Sergeant First Class. He is survived by his Nellie Irene Shaffer (Sandy) and is the father of Joseph George Shaffer Jr., Tina Morgan, Joseph Pagano (stepson), Mark Pagano (stepson), Jennifer Brassell, and Nellie Irene Shaffer. He had 6 brother and sisters: Ellen Gleason, Emma Cruz, Eunice Morris, Frank Buck, Donald Shaffer (deceased), and Lewie Shaffer (deceased). Mr. Shaffer was the proud grandfather/great grandfather of 28 grandchildren/great grandchildren. Mr. Shaffer lived a full life without regret. He loved and cared for his family the best he could in his own way. He knew how to laugh and be thankful for everything and everyone. He taught his children that hard work and providing for your family is always your first priority and often sacrificed everything for those he loved. There will be a private celebration of his life and scattering of his ashes at a later date.
