Joseph “Nile” Peacher Sr, 93, passed from this life into the next on July 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and grandparents,three brothers and three sister-In-Laws, his loving wife Elizabeth (Riggins) and his daughter, Jo Ann. He is survived by a son Joey; a daughter, Nila (Robert) Shellito; grandchildren Jennifer (Lonnie) Mills, Ben (Leigh) Hughes, and Brock (Jessica) Hughes; and eleven great grandchildren. Nile was a World War ll veteran, serving in the Naval Air Corps. He was an Instructor/Education Specialist at Fort Gordon, Georgia, before retiring, and continued to teach at Brenau University and Georgia Military College. He joined the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Clarksville, Tennessee when he was seven years old and remained a faithful member all of his life. Nile, also affectionately known as Dad, Pops, Papa, and Professor Peacher, lived an Outstanding life, always spreading the message that “God Loves You…and so do Liz and I”! In celebration of his reunion with his Lord, there will be a visitation at Central Christian Church, 220 Crawford Avenue, Augusta, Georgia on Thursday, July 6th. 2017 at 1:30 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to reston Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Nashville National Cemetery, Nashville, TN,with military honors. A special thanks to Trinity Hospice for their wonderful care, they became like family to us.
