Mr. Joseph Edward Hicks of Musgrove Drive in Augusta died on Sunday, October 12, 2008.He was 70 years old. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Westover Memorial Park.Family and friends will meet at Westover on Wednesday morning. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife JoAnn Hall Hicks, of Augusta; his daughter, Tammy Floyd and her husband, Walker, of Florence, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Dr. Becky Floyd of Iowa City, Iowa, and Drew Floyd, also of Florence.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terrie Lynn Hicks in 2006, and by his parents, Ernest Edward and Ruby Josephine Hicks. Mr. Hicks was born on August 21, 1938, in Olanta, South Carolina.He was employed by Signode Inc., based in Chicago, for over 30 years.He was a member of Oak Grove Lodge of Effingham, South Carolina and of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Columbia, South Carolina.
