Mr. Johnny Ryder, Sr. entered into rest on Tuesday, September 7that Doctors Hospital. Johnny was born on March 27, 1946 to Samuel Ryder and Delia Swanson Ryder in Murphy, NC.In 1978 he moved his family to Augusta, GA and made Augusta their home.He retired his own business a few years ago after a lifetime of working in Food Service Repair and Maintenance.John had many loyal customers through the years that wouldn’t allow anyone else to work on their equipment and were always trying to coax him out of retirement just for them.He loved NASCAR, Dragstrip Racing and playing golf and was a member at Green Meadows Golf Club.He served as Past-President of Columbia County Fish and Game Club as well as Past-President of Woodmen of the World.He adored his family & and enjoyed travelling with his wife to the beach and the mountains. He leaves to cherish his memories:His loving wife of 46 years, Peggy Ryder, one daughter, Holly Lott of Martinez GA, four sons, Jeff Cockerham of Martinez, GA, Donald Cockerham (Jennifer) of Grovetown, GA, Sammy Ryder, Jr. of Madison, NC, andJohnny Ryder, Jr. (Angela) of Jacksonville, FL, his fur baby, Zoomie, two sisters, Lynn Hildebran of Valdese, NC and Sue Humphreys of Lenoir, NC., seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a very special niece that spent many vacations with John & his wife, Vickie Teague of Rhodhiss, NC, his special nephew, Tim Ryder of Granite Falls, NC, along with many more loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.John will truly be missed on Earth and has reunited with family members who left before him. The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
