Johnny Amerson (February 27, 1942) passed away on June 19, 2015 at the age of 72 in Augusta, Georgia. He was born in Wrightsville, Georgia. Johnny was a Master Carpenter and worked very hard at his trade all of his life. He was an avid fisherman and skilled pool player. Johnny was also a legendary dirt track driver with a lengthy career spanning four decades. In recent years he enjoyed gardening, home projects and a simpler life with his fiancee of 13 years Pat Corley and her children; Nat (Amanda) Burroughs, Traci (Eddie) Pardue and Heather Mutispaugh. Johnny is survived by his fiancee Pat Corley; two daughters Tammie (Jonathan) Harvell of Tybee Island, GA and Dawn (Chad)Young of Augusta, GA; brother Freddie (Brenda) Amerson and sisters Catheryn (Bob) Turnbull and Shirley (Rick) Reichel. He had four grandchildren Jeffrey Blaine Carter II, Jason Blair Carter, Rhett Kelse (Emily) Carter and Joshua Young. He has one great grandson, Remington Carter. He was dearly loved by a multitude of nephews and nieces and his extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents John Willie and Mamie Lucille Amerson; his brothers J.W. Amerson Jr. and Eugene Talmage Amerson; his sisters Elizabeth (Gene) Copeland, Mary (Bobby) Stevison, Betty (Bob) Jones and Clemmie Porter. A celebration of Johnny's life will be held at McNeill's funeral home on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 4 - 6pm.
