John Timothy Minor, 73, of Martinez, Georgia, entered peacefully into rest surrounded by his family, after a brief illness, on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Doctor’s Hospital. John was born on July 26, 1948 in Aiken, South Carolina to John Wesley Minor and Doris K. Minor Kennen. He was a 1966 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and a proud Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. John had a career in sales working in many roles all over the CSRA and retired from NAPA Auto Parts. John loved his family, friends, boats, fishing, trains, happy hour, a good afternoonnapand the Georgia Bulldogs (which he was able to watch win the National Championship on January 10th- Go Dawgs!!!!). John was a founding member of the Savannah River Social Club (SRSC), a close group of dozens of fishing friends. The club’s roots date back as far as 1964 but they formally adopted the name SRSC in the 1980’s. He recently was promoted by club members from “Captain” to “Admiral” and he wanted you to know it!!!! John is lovingly survived by his “bride” and the love of his life, Andrea Johnson Brooks Minor; mother, Doris K. Minor Kennen; brother, Gary Minor (Debra); step-sons, Glenn Nash (Janet) and Shaun Brooks (DeAnna); grandchildren, Danielle, Haylee, Alex, Jackson, Hudson and Harrison (who affectionately referred to him as “Papa John”); aunt, Kay Stratton (Gary); uncle, Ken Koone (Janey) and his dog, Mud Puddles. He was predeceased by his father, John Wesley Minor; step-mother, Fay Bell Minor and step-father, Vernal “Doc” Kennen. John’s Celebration of Life will be held on February 26, 2022 at 11:00 am in the contemporary celebration space at Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 N. Belair Road, Evans, GA, Reverend Greg Porterfield officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
