John C. Hyatt John C. Hyatt, of Leeds Court, died on Friday, November 11, 2011 at his home.He was 86 years old. He is survived by his wife, Emily, two daughters, Katherine J. Griffin and Jeanne H. McGee, one son, Robert M. Hyatt, all of Augusta, his step-son, Phillip C. Hamlin, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his step-son, Ernest (Bud) Hamlin, and by his step-daughter, Eileen Hilderbrandt. He was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Born in Cazenovia, NY, the son of the late J. Cortland Hyatt and Katherine Webster Hyatt, he had been a resident of Augusta since 1964. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the 86th Infantry Division in Germany where he received the Combat'Infantryman's Badge, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He attended the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Pulp & Paper Manufacture. After graduation he held various positions in the paper industry and, in 1963, moved to Augusta where he was employed by Deerfield Specialty Papers, Inc. He retired in 1985 after serving that mill as Technical Director for over 20 years. He had been a member of the Paper Industry Management Association and the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry. He had been a Volunteer with St. Joseph Hospice for 14 years and was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. The Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene Street, Augusta, with the Reverend David B.
