John William Cawley Jr. 81, entered into rest on Tuesday December 12, 2023 . Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Friday December 15, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1704 Bunting Drive , North Augusta, SC . Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens .The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Thursday evening at the church Born in Augusta, John “Johnny”, A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world and he held them dearly in his heart. He served his country proudly in the Army National Guard and U.S. Marine Corps. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a long-standing, active member of the church, he held many positions in the church throughout his life. His favorite sport to play and watch was softball. John was never idle, always working, reading, or spending time outdoors gardening as he took great pride in his yard. He enjoyed sharing his great sense of humor to brighten someone’s day. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years Charlene Hightower Cawley; Children: Jeanna Smith (David), John William Cawley III (Annah), Donna Chastain (Michael), Nicole Newbegin (Kenneth),Katie Leavitt (Travis).Sister Patricia Lind; 26 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents John William Cawley Sr. and Evelyn Cawley; brother Joseph Michael Cawley; sister Virginia Kellum . . We say goodbye for now, no, make that so long. Goodbye seems to mean that you will not be seeing someone again, and so long means that you will see them eventually. Until we are together again, We will always love you and be thinking of you.
